• This process is similar to rebooting a computer. Although some system settings on the phone will be reset during the process, you will not lose address book entries or the ScoutPalSE program.
• Make sure you are in a location where you can get at least 2 bars on the signal strength meter. (See illustration below.)
• Perform the following steps on the phone:

  ScoutPalSE2 users:  (i88s and i58sr with Symbol scanner)

  1. Press Menu
  2. Scroll to Settings and press SELECT
  3. Scroll to Security and press SELECT
  4. Scroll to Master Reset and press SELECT

  ScoutPalSE3 and above:  (iXXX phones, like the i265)

  1. Press the Menu button
  2. Scroll to Settings and press OK
  3. Scroll to Advanced and press OK
  4. Scroll to Connectivity and press OK, then scroll to Master Reset and press  OK

  All ScoutPalSE users:  continue with these steps

5. Enter "000000" (six zeroes) for the Security Code and press OK
6. Press YES
7. Press OK
8. The phone will turn itself off...

• After the phone turns off, completely remove the battery.
• Wait 15 minutes before putting it back together and turning it on again.
• Wait for the phone to connect with Nextel. This may take up to an hour.
  • You may get a message asking to update your browser information. If you do, follow the prompts to complete the update.
  • After waiting for the full hour, continue following the steps below, even if there is no indiction of a connection.
• Turn the phone off again, leave the battery in, wait 15 minutes, then turn it on again.
• Wait until a connection to Nextel is fully completed.
• When the data connection is complete, you will see a little box next to the signal-strength meter with the letters "iP" inside it. (See illustration below.)
• Once again, you may get a message asking to update your browser information. If you do, follow the prompts to complete the update.
• ScoutPalSE2 users should now reset the baud rate: Menu/Settings/Initial Setup/Baud Rate/2400.
