All issues regarding maintaining ScoutPal subscriptions are handled securely by PayPal. Once you have started your subscription, PayPal will automatically invoice and renew it for you on the date that it is due, monthly or quarterly.  Warning:  If you login to your PayPal account and delete a card or bank account that's being used for your ScoutPal subscription, PayPal will cancel your subscription. PayPal may also cancel a subscription if the credit card expires or is not updated in the specific sequence that PayPal requires. PayPal gives warning of this, but it is in small type and easy to overlook.

How to:

  1. Deal with a "Payment Failed" notice from PayPal
  2. Start a New Subscription
  3. Add a New Funding Source in PayPal
  4. Change Your Subscription's Funding Source
  5. Change Your Subscription's Billing Cycle or its PayPal Account
  6. Cancel Your Subscription

If your subscription has been cancelled, either specifically by you, or by PayPal, and you wish to use ScoutPal again, then you will need to start a new subscription.

What to do if you received a "Payment Failed" notice from PayPal: [back to top]

PayPal will retry two more times before canceling your subscription, giving you enough time to login to PayPal to rectify the funding source for the subscription.  The problem is usually simply that the expiration date needs to be updated for one of the credit cards you have on file in your PayPal account.  If you need to Change Your Subscription's Funding Source, you must do it carefully, or PayPal will cancel your subscription.  If your subscription does get cancelled, no worries, just Start a New Subscription, then email us and we will refund any overlap in payment.

How to Start a New Subscription: [back to top]

After any cancellation, your ScoutPal account ID and password remain in the system and you can login, but you will no longer be able to do lookups.

Start a New Subscription by following these steps:

  1. On your computer, go to ScoutPal.com.
  2. Login with your Scoutpal ID and password. (The login is on the upper right side of the page.)
  3. After login, you will see a "Services for ScoutPal Users" menu.
  4. Click on the "Subscription Services" button.
  5. Click the "Continue" button on the Update Subscription page, which will bring up your ScoutPal Registration Update Form.
  6. Take a moment to review and correct any contact information on the form, as necessary.
  7. Click on the "Start a Paid Subscription" button at the bottom of the Registration Update Form.
  8. On the next page, choose "Monthly" or "Quarterly" billing.
  9. You will now be redirected to PayPal to complete your subscription. (You will need to contact PayPal if you have forgotten your PayPal account login.)
  10. If there is an overlap in payment between your old and new subscription, simply send us an email with your ScoutPal ID after you start the new subscription, and we will refund the difference.

How to Add a New Funding Source in PayPal: [back to top]

If you want to use a new funding source for your subscription, login to PayPal, then ADD the new credit card or bank account to your PayPal account, then CHANGE the funding source shown on the ScoutPal subscription record to use the new card/account.  You can then delete the old credit card or account if you wish.  You must follow these steps in this exact order, or PayPal will cancel your subscription. Please refer to our Subscription Maintenance in PayPal page.

How to Change Your Subscription's Funding Source: [back to top]

Your subscription and its payment issues are totally handled by PayPal using their website and its procedures.  Please refer to our Subscription Maintenance in PayPal page.

How to Change Your Subscription's Billing Cycle or its PayPal Account: [back to top]

PayPal does not provide a way to change between monthly and quarterly billing, or to change the underlying PayPal account used for a ScoutPal subscription.  The only way to do this is to cancel your current subscription from within PayPal and then start a new subscription (beginning at ScoutPal.com) on a different billing basis.  Check your past subscription payments to determine the next renewal date; you will want to do this on the day before the next renewal, or send us an email after you start a new subscription and we'll refund possible overlaps in payment.

How to Cancel Your Subscription: [back to top]

(Please first review our Terms Of Service)

Your subscription and its payment issues are totally handled by PayPal using their website and its procedures, so a PayPal subscription to ScoutPal is canceled from within the PayPal website. Refer to our Subscription Maintenance in PayPal page for information on how to find and use the Cancel button in PayPal.

Per our Terms Of Service, cancellations are immediate and non-refundable. After cancellation, your ScoutPal account ID and password remain in the system and you can login, but you will no longer be able to do lookups until you Start a New Subscription.
